[MOD] aerobatic plane

For aerobatic fans and just for fun, I offer the mod, that implements Su-26M2 flight/damage model and exterior+interior of Ki-27 Otsu.
I'm not experienced with 3D-modelling, so I chose most close to Su-26 type and nice looking plane exterior.

Since Su-26M2 is not in slot, IMHO, this is not offends forum rules.
I hope, somebody more experienced will make sometime real Su-26M2 mod with proper 3D-model (may be even I will).

Always wonder, how would modern aerobatic plane proved himself as fighter in dogfight vs. warbirds of past.
So I put here pair of good guns, also for a fun. I think, flying on plane without guns is not a fun Twisted Evil

This mod have limited netplay compatibility.
Players, that not have this mod, will see this plane as "Storch", will not see, probably, plane name,
and, that can be considered as cheat, gunfire.

To install mod, just unzip zip folder to \MODS folder in your IL-2 directory and add this line:

Su-26M2 air.SU_26M2 1 NOINFO r01 SUMMER

to your air.ini file, located, probably in \MODS\QMB_AVAILABLE_AIRCRAFT_FIX\com\maddox\il2\objects folder inside your IL-2 directory.
You will have flyable Su-26M2, looking like Ki-27.

I would like to confirm that Oleg did include the Su-26's FM in this game. But just didnt build an aircraft for it. Ive seen people use IAR-81's for this mod as well. I did have it one point. So its fair.

Yeah, everyone has a slightly different version of this mod, personally I have one which fires 4 guns with an edited model of the IAR-80 (changes to undercarriage, wing length, fuselage length etc...) you also see it as a storch when in game.

I hope someone will make a aerobatic plane, not just modyfy IAR 80. a Su26 or mabe one MXS. I think it will be a lot of fun. by the way. is there a tutorial available that explains how to create a plane in IL-2?

Would be nice if some one would bash a simple model together. Loads of the formation simmers would love it. Also I have seen one. but its a private mod.

Depends, the model may have to remade or edited to IL-2 Standards, the work involved in doing that is around equal to starting from scratch. The Check six guys are already working on one anyway.

By the way, mod looks like this now ...

... like a regular Ki-27, but there is no special matter, how it looks, matter is, how it flying.
3D modelling is a lot of work even for experts, but I want aerobatic plane now.
Besides, in game exists a Ki-27 model, that is a good match for Su-26 FM. Definitely better than "Storch".
(unfortunately, telescopic sight obscures the cockpit view a bit)

The IAR-80 is the around about the closest looking plane to the Su-26 and yeah the ki27 is closer to it than the storch. Something I never understood was how you got people who didn't have the mod to see you in a storch....

I was amased by resemblance of exterior of IAR80 WWII era aircraft and Su26, and at first make a mod with IAR80 model. But then I changed my mind and chose Ki27 model for its native similar to Su26 FM, fixed undercarriage, and funny look (IAR80 still does not look like Su26 quite - it's much bigger, havier, has a ravenous appearance). In the end, it is not very important, Su26 will have it own 3D-model in game sooner or later.

No, that is not what I meant. Wink

What I mean is that normally if someone has a mod that you don't have you won't be able to see them in a plane, they are just an invisible plane flying around that you can't locate or hear etc... with this mod both you and the russian guys have been able to make the person without the mod see you, although not necessarily in the same plane (eg. Ki27) they still see you at least and see you firing and damaging them...
